Fire Extinguishers

Budget-Fire is part of Safelincs Ltd, the UK’s largest Fire Safety Retailer. Both Safelincs and Budget-Fire supply Extinguisher, with Budget-Fire focusing on Extinguishers out of the Thomas Glover trade range, while Safelincs supplies mainly Gloria Fire Extinguishers. All our extinguishers, of course, are either kitemarked or LPCB/Lloyds Register approved and come fully charged and with fire extinguisher wall brackets for easier hanging. We do recommend that you also choose the relevant extinguisher wall signs, which help you to identify which extinguisher should be used on what type of fire.

Powder exinguishers are used on a broad range of flammable materials, such as wood, gas and flammable liquids. Powder extinguishers have s strong knock-down effect on the flames, but do not cool the fire and do not penetrate materials. The powder is also hard to clean up after the deployment of an extinguisher.

Foam extinguishers are used for flammable liquids, as well as general household and office applications. The foam penetrates materials such as carpets and soft furnishing and has a good cooling effect, as the water component of the foam evaporates.

Water extinguishers are free of any harmful substances and can be used on wood and paper fires. They are, however, not very powerful, which means that you require larger volumes, which comes with increased weight. Water extinguishers are also available with environmentally friendly additives, which increase the power of water extinguishers and reduce the risk of self-electrocution if accidentally used on mains power.

CO2 extinguishers were originally designed for flammable liquids but are particularly valuable when fighting an electrical fire. They do not leave any deposits and cause no damage to computer systems etc. However, once the CO2 has drifted off, the fire can re-ignite, if the source of the fire has not been removed.

Wet Cemical extinguishers are used to fight fires in deep fat fryers.
